'WHY'

WHY

Why is an adverb that asks for what reason or purpose, and we have all at some point in time have asked ‘why’; why did you do that, why did you choose that one, why are you here, you get my drift. I look back on my formative years from time to time and I remember asking a ‘why’ question, and the response was, why has a long tail; the responder echoed! People who wish to be informed ask why, others ask why being facetious! Why from the questioner is generally sincere, for the questioner wants to be informed: a mother will ask ‘why’ when she loses a son to street violence or a child will ask ‘why’ is it raining on the day they are suppose to be going on a field trip.

There are real legitimate ‘why’ questions that get asked, and they deserve real, intelligent, and sincere answers. One might ask the question why do people cheat; why do people steal, why do people kill, why do bad things happen to good people, why do people, why do people, why do people! This list could go on and on; and that would lead to another why. One important question we need to ask ourselves is ‘why’ do we do what we do? However, the responses would and could be a host of responses, and far too often the why answers would not even come close to being a real answer. What am I saying, take for instance the question as to why do people cheat? Some cheat because they feel they can get away with it, some will say they cheat because there is something missing and apparently this other person has what they need, others cheat because they feel they could not do it on their own i.e. an exam for school. We as people for the most part can come up will all types of answers to justify a reason or a purpose as to ‘why’ we did what we did. However, most of our answers or responses for cheating just give way to our lack of discipline and commitment.

Look you must focus on the word commitment at the end of the previous paragraph, ‘why’ you ask, and the response is this: ‘who’ one is committed to, will determine the ‘why’ he or she engage in ‘what’ they do.

We know that life is a series of choices, and far too often we make wrong or inappropriate choices because we do not judge that which is right. We predict the weather and we dress appropriately, but are hypocrites when is comes to making decisions as it relates to the times in which we live, we see despair among the people, we see more and more people turning to their own lusts and desires with no conscience, we see people stripped of their possessions without recourse or redress, and we as proclaimed men and women of God, are being brought to the courts for what we owe and we do not even try to settle our debt before we get to the magistrate, and ultimately be cast into prison to pay our debt in full.

Why is this, it is because we lose sight of our commitment to Jesus, and we therefore make bad choices. Jesus in the book of Luke, chapter 12, and verse 57, (ESV) asked the question "why do you not judge that which is right." What Jesus is basically saying in His line of questioning is that we need to settle before we get to court or we will be thrown into jail (hell) when we get to court. All plea agreements must be made prior to the actual court date! We need to get our debts settled; ‘why’, because time is drawing near, and when one stands before the Great Judge (JESUS) on their court day, they would want to have already reconciled with Him over their debt, their SIN Debt! Why can they not do it or settle up when they see Him? Good question, and worthy of an answer: on judgement day all judgements are final and all plea bargains (pleas of repentance) must have been made before their case is presented in court. Jesus as one’s defense attorney has never lost a case and He never will, and if Jesus is your defense attorney He will attest (provide or serve as clear evidence) to the why you should be in His heaven.

The why one should be in His heaven is and would be due to one being covered by the blood of Jesus, which was shed on the Cross of Calvary. For His shedding of blood has enabled one to repent from all sin. Ref. Hebrews the latter clause of 9:22; also we can go into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, and one can do it with boldness. Ref. Hebrews 10:19

Why are you doing what you are doing should be the question at this point, is it because of you, somebody or something else, or is your why because of Jesus? If the reason you do something can not revert back to Jesus, then you need to find out why not! People may ask why there is death, which is a legitimate question, and the simple answer is SIN brings forth Death, and our retort should be: if one does not die to sin, they will die into an eternal death. Some are wicked, some are evil, some are liars, some are killers, some are thieves, some are backbiters, some anti-God, a list like this can be almost inexhaustible, but in short the common thread to all I have mentioned thus far would again be the ‘WHY’ and the ‘WHY’ would be Sin. A closing reference I leave you with Romans 7:14-25 and ask yourself why do I do what I do; if the why answer is fleshly read I John 1:9 and if the why is spiritual read Galatians 5:1.

Just ask yourself Why did Jesus die for me, and why did He chose me? Trust me, you can find out why in His Word!!!!!!!!!!!
